About Us
Our background
Water Lane Joinery was founded by Will Keeping back in 2004.
Since our inception we have operated from a large and well equipped workshop in a nineteenth century mill in the Derbyshire Dales.
Our work has taken us across Derbyshire and to the north and south of the UK. From our beginnings to the present day, our focus has always been to deliver high quality and bespoke woodworking services in collaboration with our clients, whatever the project type.
Our values
We are committed to creating long lasting, durable pieces that are sustainable and eco-friendly.
In today's climate of mass production we take pride in producing genuine bespoke work for people and organisations who still appreciate the qualities and value of handcrafted individually made pieces. This approach benefits everyone - clients gain woodwork that is high quality and long lasting, we receive great satisfaction from delivering on such projects, and the environment benefits because we choose not to buy into fast fashion furniture and design principles.
We are committed to sustainability and our work practice reflects this. Our garden rooms are eco-friendly, our doors and windows are energy efficient, our restoration and refurbishment work focuses on preservation and restoration of the historic fabric whenever possible.
About our windows and the wood we use
Why we use Accoya Wood?
Accoya is produced from sustainably managed Pinus radiata trees.
A modification process known as acetylation penetrates into the core of the wood to create a product that is highly stable, resistant to rot, ecologically responsible and uniquely durable. The treatment gives this softwood variety all the desirable characteristics of a hardwood with none of the disadvantages.
No toxic substances are required for the modification process, and the natural beauty of the wood is retained. All this combines to make Accoya the leading modified wood available anywhere today plus its Warranted for 50 years.
Why are our windows special?
FINEO windows insulate as well as triple glazing, but is lighter and thinner, meaning it can be installed into the existing window frame.
This often makes FINEO the most cost-effective solution for renovation and restoration projects.
But that’s not all! FINEO is also a sustainable investment: not only is it 100% recyclable, it has no inert gases or organic seals which means it will not deteriorate over time.
Fineo has a market-leading warrantee of 20 years but has a life expectancy of much longer.
